Purpose & Overall relevance for the organization

Working location: Can Tho, Vietnam
Fully accountable for quality, production, manufacturing efficiency targets and Social & Environmental Affairs (SEA) in one factory of at least 500K monthly capacity.
Support DM or Sr. Manager to take accountability for quality, production, manufacturing efficiency, SEA targets and E2E supply chain management of the designated factories/areas to ensure adidas products are consistently produced/delivered by meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

Job description

Key responsibilities:

Independently manage all production, quality, production planning and SEA aspects of 1 factory (of at least 500K pairs monthly capacity.)
Manage relationship with factory top management (Head of Production & Head of QIP) but with support from Production Team Leader or Senior Production Manager in implementing CI techniques and quality tools in daily production operations.
Manage junior team members and contribute considerably to the achievement of team objectives.
Supervise junior production staff ensuring that quality is the paramount priority and focus.
Explain practices and directives to factory QIP/ Production Heads and/or LO teams to achieve shared goals.
Influence factory production/ quality middle management and drive change to achieve production objectives.
Make day to day decisions within defined scope (with support on complex issues)
Account for production area with predefined scope of responsibilities.
Execute defined directives.

More details:

Support product creation/development for the designated categories through proactively providing suggestions or comments in terms of quality, efficiency, safety and availability.
Lead the teams of the designated factories/areas in managing the production process, quality, capacity liability, production planning, Manufacturing Excellence, SEA, Security, E2E supply chain and adidas standards implementation.
Make day to day impactful decisions in terms of the defined production, quality, availability and ME in the designated factories/areas.
Influence and monitor the execution of the tactical and operational direction for production and related E2E supply chain (T1/T2 /T3)
Manage tactical and operational relationships with the factory production middle level management, influence quality cultures and mindsets through process streamlining using CI techniques and quality tools in the designated factories/areas.
Works directly with the Factory production manager in terms of factory production personnel skills evaluation in the designated factories/areas and through DM or Sr. Manager provide facts/business cases to get the Factory to invest into various productions manufacturing machineries.
With support from DM or Sr. Manager, ensure best practices, cohesive messages, projects are shared or implemented consistently in the designated factories/areas and supply chain in the area of quality, production and ME.
Act as LO Shoes Master responsible for coaching, training/teaching and continuously upgrading technical, shoe manufacturing expertise and decision-making capability of the Production personnel of the designated factories/areas.

Other GOPS functions (Brand Operations, Costing, Materials, Sustainability, SEA, etc…)
T1 Factory Production/QIP/ME teams
Subcons (T3) and T2 material suppliers
3rd party / external auditing firms (Quality, Lab, SEA, Sustainability, Security, etc…)

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge:

Production/Operation is prioritised
For Quality & Development, needs to have IM knowledge
Lean knowledge is a plus
Industrial management knowledge (manage the whole process in the factory eg. safety, )
Have production knowledge and expertise and can provide input into projects.

Skills and Abilities:

Have a strong Continuous Improvement (CI) and quality mindset.
With minimal input and feedback, can identify problems and provide solutions to complex production issues.
Can manage direct reports with support from the line manager.
Influencing skills, Presentation skills and MS Office skills
Good written and verbal English communication.
Chinese or Korean (for communication with Factory Production/ QIP heads) a clear advantage

Requisite Education and Qualifications:

University degree preferably on shoe making or engineering
3-5 years shoe making or quality experience in the Footwear industry.
Production or Development / commercialization background
Shoes making / quality experience
Good knowledge of shoes manufacturing process
Practice exposure and min 6-12 months rotation in another function outside Production i.e.Quality, Commercialization, Planning or Development
